Curley Granger is a self-taught artist. Diverse in both subject and media, he is equally comfortable in acrylics, watercolors, and oils. A painter of landscapes, seascapes, still life, and wildlife, his works command a natural richness where wildlife comes to life. Prior to focusing on his first love of art, he worked as a plant manager in the custom blend and packaging industry. His travels and experience give him a unique perspective on life and its beauty. Having lived in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida his work has gained in popularity and is commissioned and collected by many. Now retired and residing in Clayton, North Carolina. Curley has continued to paint the things he loves adding North Carolina and its neighbors to his ever expanding portfolio of exciting works.
“I have always been in love with art and thankful for natural ability. Talent laced with a creative insight, when coupled with perspective that targets an inspiring subject is all the motivation that is needed to render a facsimile that reflect personality, mood and emotion of the artist. This is what gives each work character.
Although the work of an artist is an individual effort, I believe that art belongs to everyone. Just as “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” in a real sense art is the same. We as individuals are unique with varying taste. What some accept others may reject and it’s all a matter of personal preference. But once connected with the work, then imagination is moved to experience as life is breathe into the painting and it becomes their own. Life is a passionate endeavor and brushing out images that move imagination to experience is a God given privilege. My inspiration is to see someone enjoy my work and I am honored to have them take it home to share with family and friends. I hope that you may find the same joy and fulfillment in my paintings that I have while creating them.”
